BBS Recruitment is currently recruiting for an experienced Social Worker in a temp position for our client in Wrexham.

The successful candidate should be a proactive and hardworking individual with prior experience within a role.

JOB PURPOSE

To provide a social work service to children/young people and their families who are in need of, or who are receiving, services from the Local Authority.  To take appropriate action in the provision of Departmental Services, and to ensure all children and young people referred have a plan based on an assessment of need, and that such plans are reviewed and modified as appropriate.

JOB CONTEXT

Children and young people and their families in a given locality who are in need of, or who are receiving, services from the Local Authority.

•Responding to the social work requirements of cases allocated by the Team Manager in terms of assessment, planning and reviews.

•Engaging in individual direct casework with children, young people and families.

•Undertaking detailed and thorough needs assessment of referrals

•Planning and offering a range of interventions and enabling access to services provided by the Department, other agencies and voluntary bodies, to help children, young people and their families overcome disadvantage, problems and difficulties.

Essential Qualifications & Experience

Level 3

•DipSW/CQSW/CSS

•Minimum of 2 years relevant post-qualifying experience

•PQ1

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

Registered Social Worker

In addition, must have Post Qualifying Award in Social Work which includes an element to assess Social Workers as recognised by the Care Council for Wales.Those with the Mental Health Award or the PQCCA Award can progress to this level but the competency bar is obtaining the additional assessment unit/award such as the Practice Teaching Award.

It is recognised that the new Mental Health Award and the new Childcare Award may include this assessment unit.

These Social Workers are expected to be expert in their field e.g. Mental Health e.g. Childcare to such a degree that they can formally assess the practice not only of Social Work Students but also newly qualified and experienced Social Workers.

There expertise will allow them to have full responsibility for their caseload and to deal with the most complex matters.

These complex cases will require a range of imaginative solutions or responses which will involve fresh and innovative thinking.
